Description
Darlington Chapel at Redlands Community College in El Reno, OK has a lot of history. In 1870, the Darlingon Agency was established by Briton Darlington, a Quaker, as the indian agency on the Cheyenne and Arapaho reservation in Canadian County.
Located on the Chisholm Trail, it had a post office, indian school and newspaper over the years. In 1897, the Cheyenne left to form their own agency in Concho and when the Arapaho joined them, the Darlinton Agency became property of the State of Oklahoma.
The Darlington Chapel was built by the Masons in 1913 by the Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Today it's home to the Chapel Creek Winery.
