Description
The Rio Theatre in sepia was built in 1912 by Spanish emigrant Juan Bautista Barbera and was originally called El Teatro la Paz; Peace Theatre. This theater is located in Mission, TX in the Rio Grande Valley.
In 1945, the Peace Theatre was purchased by Enrique Flores, Sr. and renamed the Rio Theatre. Through the early years the theater saw great Spanish and Mexican classic actors. Today the Rio Theatre is a cultural center with restaurant, art gallery and theatre performances.
